3 Steps To Get Back Into Your Composting Mojo
Sometimes we drop off our composting mojo and it can look something like this: we forget to empty the kitchen caddy after 3 days into our worm farm or compost bin, this turns into 1 week, we know for sure the scraps may be a little soggy by now perhaps even a little mouldy, you make a mental not to empty it tomorrow but that never happens. So, the kitchen caddy is still full….where do the new scraps that are being prepped for dinner go? They are either shoved in the already full kitchen caddy, or in the bin. This is the perfect example of falling off the composting mojo.
A barrier or an interruption to one of these steps could be that it’s raining, getting home late so it’s dark, travelling, it’s a little colder than usual, or that life just gets a little fuller than usual.
Here are 3 steps you can do right now to get your mojo back. “Collect, Empty, Aerate” and repeat.
- Empty the Caddy! No matter how full, or soggy or mouldy your scraps are the worms will gobble them up. And you compost bin will use this food source as energy to heat up.
- Aerate your compost bin and worm farm
- Feel damn proud that your food scraps didn’t go to landfill. High five!

Don’t be too concerned if you haven’t lifted the lid off in 1 week, 2 weeks or even 3 weeks. If you follow the 3 steps method to get back into your composting mojo, we guarantee this will put a smile back on your face!
